About
RPI ANS is a community of students interested in any of the many facets of nuclear science and engineering. As an official student section of the American Nuclear Society, we offer many opportunities for students to engage in professional development, technical lectures and seminars, nuclear advocacy, and anything else to further their knowledge and involvement in all things nuclear.
Our Faculty Advisor: Dr. Hyun Kang
Dr. Kang is an Associate Professor of Nuclear Engineering Program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). Dr. Kang’s research focus lies in innovations of risk assessment of safety-critical systems, intrinsically safe nuclear power, intelligence of control and protection, and design and evaluation of emergency procedure.
The American Nuclear Society (ANS) is a not-for-profit, international, scientific and educational organization. It was established by a group of individuals who recognized the need to unify the professional activities within the various fields of nuclear science and technology.

RPI Chapter
The RPI Chapter of Women in Nuclear seeks to offer members opportunities that support the three main aims of National WIN: outreach, networking and professional development. We enhance members technical and industry knowledge by bringing speakers to campus either physically or virtually, provide outreach and leadership opportunities, and connect members with alumni and other professionals through activities and conferences.
U.S. Women in Nuclear (U.S. WIN) is an organization of women and men who work in nuclear energy and technology fields around the United States. Our vision is aimed at positioning the United States for the future of nuclear energy and technology through the advancement of women.
